Some preparation steps must be done outside VS:

  1. Add remote branch:

git remote add <branchName> <branchUrl>

2. Download new branch:

git fetch <branchName>



Now in VS Braches we have new remote with branches. We will merge issue_28 branch that fixes small bug.


We can right click it and checkout, to test changes in pull request.


When changes are ready to be merged, double click on our master branch, then right click it and select Merge From.



Now in Synchronization tab we have all merged changes, press push to finish merge and send all changes to server.


Electron is framework that lets you run cross-platform web apps on desktop. Visual Studio Code is one those cross-platform apps that is written with Electron. To create simple Electron application all you need is three files: package.json, main.js and index.html for this example I used this sample application

After all project files are created open debug panel and click configure button which will create settings launch.json file with debug configuration.



We will need only configuration with name “Attach”.

In debug panel choose “Attach” configuration and press “Start” or F5.


After few seconds if everything went successfully you should see debug commands:



Try setting breakpoint in application close event:



And close application to test break point:


Note that you can debug only nodes back end JavaScript code, client side script debugging is not supported.

First of all, lets create simple application to debug. Set a break point and start application.

When break point is hit, open Debug > Windows > Disassembly. A new window will open with C# mixed with assembly and with break point. You can use Step Over and Step Out to move between assembly instructions.
